What makes Montessori different from traditional education?
Montessori emphasizes learning through all five senses instead of just through listening, watching, and reading. Children in Montessori classes learn at their own, individual pace and according to their own choice of activities from hundreds of possibilities. Learning is an exciting process of discovery, leading to concentration, motivation, self-discipline, and a love of learning.
Is Montessori good for gifted children?
Montessori is designed to help all children reach their fullest potential at their own unique pace. Our children are allowed to follow their own interests and develop to their fullest potential.
Are Montessori children successful later in life?
Research studies show that Montessori children are well prepared for later life academically, socially,and emotionally. In addition to scoring well on standardized tests, Montessori children are ranked above average in areas such as following directions, listening attentively, showing responsibility, asking provacative questions, showing enthusiasm for learning, and adapting to new situations.
Are your teachers Montessori trained?
All of our lead teachers are Montessori trained. Our assisstant teachers have Early Childhood Education training and may also be in Montessori training.
How is your school different from other Montessori schools?
Kensington Montessori is a boutique preschool designed to give individual attention to our children and parents. We will never go over sixty students, which means we will be able to build close relationships with our students and their families.
